Genesis Center - Our primary local ministry

Genesis Center main building
 What is Genesis Center?

Genesis Women's Shelter is a Christ centered home for abused and addicted women based just this side of Kaufman.  They house up to 40 women at a time, along with some of their children.  Most of the women come from a background of extreme abuse by spouses, parents, or just the world in general.  Many have a history of substance abuse and addiction and homelessness.  All have a very real need for Jesus in their lives.  Genesis offers them this.  As the name implies, Genesis gives them a new beginning by giving them a safe environment to recuperate, develop a relationship with Christ, and escape their current situation, whatever that may be.  The program at Genesis is very strict, with the intent of pushing these ladies toward self sufficiency and helping them break free from their past.  The ladies must commit to a one year program and must adhere to very strict rules and guidelines.  If they are unwilling to do so, they are not allowed to stay.

How are responding?

We are spending time with the ladies and children and making friends with them, both in our class and church and at their place.  We are transporting them, hosting them and serving them.  We are honoring them, blessing them, and mostly treating them as equals to ourselves.  We want them to know what Christian families look like, what a Christian church and the Body of Christ looks like, and that they are accepted, welcomed and belong here.

We view Genesis Center as our primary local ministry, and we are dedicated to doing the hard stuff that comes with this type of ministry.   These women will sometimes fail,  and they will eventually get out of Genesis and face tough problems and decisions.  Some will try to get their children back, and some will try to reconcile with family.  They will have to learn to provide for themselves and their children. It is different now though than before; they have tools tools and knowledge, they have support of others, and they have Jesus.  We will be there with them.  We will  be the Body of Christ to them.  We will let them know that our church home is their home, and that they will always be welcomed by us.

Champions Change their World!
Do It!

Martha is a responsible person. But sometimes she discharges those responsibilities with self-righteousness rather than joy. But spending time with Jesus changes her attitudes. Jesus changes attitudes today. We learned to commit to serve anybody, anywhere with the right attitude and a part of the team.

Our memory Verse today was:        Philippians 2:3b and 5
“In humility, consider other better than yourselves…
Your attitude should be the same as Christ Jesus.”

Compassion Challenge
What a difference a team of "Champions for God" can make in their world! I want to thank each and every ASKG team for exercising your compassion during all of our Compassion Challenges. You are all generous winners and the ultimate champions!

Together we collected over 4000 diapers and diaper wipes, bags and bags of socks, underwear, jeans, tennis shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, hoodies and backpacks. The Children In Need Program was THRILLED to receive off of these donations! All of these items will be distributed to needy families in our community. One family has already benefited from our diaper and diaper wipes donations! Whoot, Whoot! THANK YOU!

Chosen

Peter, now confident that God has work for him to do, becomes a transformed person. It gets him into trouble but he is motivated because he has chosen to be a part f God’s Big Plan. We learned that we are chosen by God, and He has something special planned for our lives.

Our memory Verse today was:        Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you, “declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Compassion Challenge
The All-Star Kids Games team congratulates "Team Boys" for winning our daily diaper and diaper wipes compassion team challenge.  Together "Team Boys" and "Team Girls" collected 3698 diapers and diaper wipes! What an incredible effort from all of our Champions!

Our week long individual compassion challenge ends tomorrow morning. Please remember to collect your bags of donations and return them to camp first thing tomorrow morning.

Champions Change their World!

Restored
Even though Peter was a friend of Jesus and saw Him do amazing things, this didn’t stop him from making a mess of his life through wrong choices. Jesus helped Peter start over again. Today we learned that God forgives us of our mess and has a perfect plan for us to become his forever friend. The Coach showed us that becoming a Christian is as simple as ABC.

A Stands for Admitting our sin(our mess)- Realizing that we have done wrong and  asking for forgiveness.
B Stands for Believing in Jesus- That He is the Son of God who died on the cross so that our sins would be forgiven
C Stands for choosing to accept His forgiveness and follow God- Accepting His forgiveness and obeying His word.

During All-Star Kids Games  today, your child was given the opportunity to pray and receive God’s forgiveness and become a member of God’s family. This week you may want to…
Talk with your child about the salvation message presented.
  • Read these Bible verses with your child which explain how to become a member of God’s family – John 3:16; John 14:6; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:8; and Romans 6:23.
  • Pray for and with your child. Encourage him/her to talk honestly with God.
  • Affirm and encourage your child as you see him/her take the steps to follow Jesus.
Our memory Verse today was:        1 John 1:9
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.’

Compassion Challenge
All week long our All-Star Kids Games Champions will be given the opportunity to assist needy children and families right here in the Fort Collins community. We are collecting specific clothing and much needed hygiene items for the homeless and near-homeless.

Champions Change Their World!

Take Courage
Only Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego dared to disobey a King because he stood aganst God. They knew that this was politically very dangerous. Their courage changed the king. Today we learned that with God, I can have courage to face any situation.

Our memory Verse today was:     Joshua 1:9
"I've commanded you to be strong and brave. Don't ever be afraid or discouraged! I am the LORD your God and I will be there to help you wherever you go."

Compassion Challenge
Champions for God have the ability to change their world and their community! This week our All-Star Kids Games Champions are making a real difference in the Fort Collins community by collecting and donating essential clothing and hygiene items to homeless and near-homeless children and their families through the Children In Need Program

Video - Day 1 from The Pursuit Church on Vimeo.

Champions Change their World!
This week your children will learn about God’s champions – people who followed Jesus, people who changed their world – whether the world of their neighbors or a whole nation! Ultimately we will learn that we can become God’s champions and change our world!

I Belong
When Matthew, a person ‘on the outside’, discovers what it means to be included by Jesus, it changes his life. Becoming one of Jesus’ team of champions, he learns to love others the way Jesus loved him- without conditions. Today we learned that we are loved and included by Jesus no matter what and that we can respond to that kind of love by including and loving others.

Our memory Verse today was:        John 13:34-35
“Jesus said I am giving you a new command. You must love each other, just as I have loved you. If you love each other, everyone will know that you are my disciples.”

Compassion Challenge
Champions for God have the ability to change their world and their community!  Today I challenged our All-Star Kids Games Champions to help make a difference in their community by collecting much needed clothng and hygiene items for homeless and near-homeless children and their families.

Day 1 - Mission trip to Colorado

Hello Lifegroup Family,

I just wanted to give you an update on how things are going here in Colorado.  I am sure you all heard about the challenges we faced getting here.  We were basically on the Texas-New Mexico border (thats right...the middle of nowhere) and a tire on our trailer pretty much fell apart.  We limped into Clayton, NM, and hung out in a DQ for about 3 hours while we waited to get the tire repaired.  Based on that little incident, our trip took about 20 hours to complete.  LONG day!

Those memories all disappeared on Monday.  The park where we are holding the event is beautiful, with great views of snow capped peaks and plenty of green grass to run and play on.  The many hours of planning and sweating the small details paid off.  The first day went about as smoothly as we could have dared hope.  The kids all had a great time.  We were absolutley exhausted by the end.  We are not used to the altitude and the dry air.  A lot of dehydration, something that we are having to be more aware of.  All that said, most kids went home really excited about the week ahead and pledging to tell their friends.

We have really been blessed to be working with the teen team from the Pier.  They have brought such an energy and a can-do spirit, and they are really helping make it fun for the kids.

The reason we are so interested in KidsGames is that the raw numbers and data support it as an outstanding community outreach tool.  Where a traditional VBS consists of 92%
churched kids on average, KidsGames draws about 42% unchurched kids.  This one bears that out....fully 50% of the kids enrolled and attending are currently not involved in a church anywhere.  What an awesome opportunity!!

Please pray for us as the week goes on, that we will have stamina (this is really physically demanding), that we can truly impact the families that we are working with here, and that God's love will shine through.

Attached are a few pictures from day 1.  Check them out, you will get a kick out of them.  I'll update you as the week goes along.

In Christ,

Steve

Dear Friends:

As always, we thank you so much for your continued support of Cornerstone’s effort to reach out to the residents in the South Dallas/Fair Park community. Your partnership with us is very much appreciated and has made it possible for us to touch various segments of the neighborhood by sharing God’s love in tangible ways.  Cornerstone’s outreach to the children, youth, elderly, homeless, and the formerly incarcerated is made possible because of your generosity and it is our hope that this newsletter will inform you how you are helping us to make a difference by restoring hope.  If your schedule should ever allow, we invite you to come and tour the facilities and hear more how you are helping us help others.
CHILDREN’S OUTREACH

SPRING BREAK BIBLE CLUBS

During SPRING BREAK 2011, five mission team from Texas, Arkansas, and Wyoming provided Bible clubs at the Cornerstone Church and five additional locations.  The other gatherings were held on vacant lots, recreation centers and school playgrounds.  On the first day, 125 children attended and the second day, there were over 250 children with the numbers continuing to grow throughout the weeks reaching a final total of about 375.  Along with providing Bible club, crafts, recreation, and lunch, volunteers worked to sort children clothing that were distributed to children in attendance.  To view some of the mission teams highlights from the week, please click on the following links:  http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/profile.php?id=750298181 and http://www.facebook.com/ed.tharp?ref=ts#!/video/video.php?v=1501361354495.  Again, we thank our mission teams for spending their Spring Break with us at Cornerstone, thus touching the lives of many neighborhood children and youth.

HOMEWORK CENTER/AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING (www.reach4hope.com) provides afterschool tutoring and homework assistance for about 13 children from the community. Several of the students have parents who are working or otherwise unable to assist them with homework assignments.   Realizing that many of the children were failing in school and this was partly due to the lack of completing homework assignments or having someone to review the day’s school work, the Homework Center was born.  This ministry provides a true safe haven for neighborhood students kindergarten through 8th grade from 3PM to 6PM Tuesday through Thursday during the Dallas ISD school year.  The mission is to create a caring, nurturing environment where we focus on building character, teaching skills, encouraging effort, and promoting the desire to learn and persevere for the purpose of gaining the tools that lead to a successful, blessed life.  A number of volunteers come from Dallas Baptist University, Southern Methodist University Law School, Louisiana State University and Texas Tech University.  They greet the children, share a meal, discuss their day at school, tackle homework assignments, and then have some recreation time.  Volunteers who have a heart to serve children are always welcomed.

Suzanne Tranhan, one of the founders, recently provided this update:

In the past 4 months we have seen marked positive increase in the children - longer focus and attention time to their work, more cooperation and enjoyment of one another (as they learn to build inside THEIR community), higher value placed on personal work ethic, accountability and FINISHING, deeper trusting relationships with adults that truly care for them, and a hunger to learn and expand more of their world.  We still have a long way to go, but we are thrilled with the progress.

CHAMPIONS OF HOPE MENTORING (www.championsofhopedallas.org) is in its fourth year of providing matches at Charles Rice Elementary Schools and has plans to expand to another South Dallas school this Fall. The results of matching children with someone to champion their efforts has resulted in better performance in the classrooms and allowing the children to see a broader perspective of possibilities in life.  Volunteers not only provide special outings for the participants also but they serve together in community outreaches and teach the importance of “giving back”.   If you are interested in mentoring, please be sure to visit our website that will provide additional information.

SUMMER P.L.U.S. DAY CAMP will be held from June 6th – July 29th for children in grades 1st – 6th.   The camp provides a free and safe place for neighborhood children to come have fun, enrich their reading skills, and learn more about the Bible.  Breakfast, lunch and snacks are served.  Thankfully, mission teams from across the country come and assist youth who are employed by the church in administering this program.

Some of the needs for this year’s Summer program are sporting equipment, small prizes that are used as incentives, gifts for the summer end – Christmas in July celebration, salary supplement for the increased utilities and summer director’s position.   If you desire to volunteer or would like to make a donation, please contact the church’s office at (214) 426-5468 or info@cornerstonedallas.org.

PRISON MINISTRY OUTREACH

MARTHA’S OUTREACH has truly grown since its inception nearly a year ago.  Staring in one apartment unit as an outreach to assist women who are re-entering the South Dallas community after prison, volunteers have been working this week to make ready a third apartment unit at the Cornerstone Care Center in order to receive more women.  Women who are available to mentor other women as they make this transition are needed, if you can assist; please contact Pansy Clemon @ paustin830@aol.com.

PHILEMON’S OUTREACH (www.trinityrestoration.org) has plans to expand the outreach to men returning to the community after prison from nine to 50 beds.  The renovation of the recently acquired apartment complex in the community continues to move forward with many mission teams providing time and raising funds for materials.  Skilled labor construction teams, men who would like to mentor men in prison and assist with their transition out of prison is still needed. If you can assist, please contact Richard “Chico” Smith @ ibredeemed04@yahoo.com.

MEDICAL OUTREACH

ROCK’S MEDICAL OUTREACH (www.rmo.org) continues to see patients every Tuesday from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Cornerstone Care Center.  The goal of the outreach is to dispense love, compassion, and hope to the less fortunate through providing quality medical care, medicines, and medical supplies in the US and developing nations without charge.  RMO strives to connect and assist with other organizations to combine resources toward the common theme of helping the uncared-for in the world.  In the course of reaching out, RMO and other like organizations, hope to improve and change each life one person at a time, to aid and encourage each person in becoming improved productive members of their individual society.  Because of the increased demand for the need of the services of RMO, Dr. Joe Nawrocki is working with other physicians to expand the days of operation.  If you are available to assist, you may contact Carolyn Stone @ cbstone1@verizon.net.

DENTAL AND EYE GLASS CLINIC the transformation of apartment # 103 at the Cornerstone Care Center is nearing completion.  Once finished, this apartment unit will house the dental and eye glass clinic made possible by the members of Lake Pointe Church (www.lakepointe.org).  Dentist who might be able to provide one day of service a month are greatly needed.  To volunteer or for more information, please contact Larry Bickel @ larryb@lakepointe.org.

EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH

CORNERSTONE CROSSROADS ACADEMY (www.cornerstonecrossroads.com) was established because each year many at-risk students in South Dallas choose to drop out of school rather than face another day of confusion and disappointment. Their dream of a high school diploma evaporates and no one seems to care. Cornerstone Crossroads Academy welcomes these students and invites them to try again.
Cornerstone Crossroads Academy is a private, faith-based school ministering to the needs of high school students who have not succeeded in the public school system. Our goal is to provide an excellent education while exposing students to the hope and abundant life found in Christ and to help them become the young men and women that God designed them to be.

PARK MANOR ELDERLY OUTREACH

On most Saturday mornings, Laywanna Taylor, a Cornerstone member, coordinates volunteers to serve at the Park Manor Apartments, a facility owned by the Dallas Housing Authority.  Although a great lunch is serve, many residents look forward to the opportunity to fellowship with volunteers from our partner churches and organization as they engage in hymn sings, conversation, and often a game of bingo.  If you desire to assist, please contact Laywanna @ laywanna@sbcglobal.net.

HOMELESS OUTREACH

CORNERSTONE KITCHEN is made possible with the help of faithful volunteers and contributors, Cornerstone continues to provide seven meals each week to the homeless.  A total of about 6,000 meals are served each month.  It is through this ministry that many relationships are built allowing Cornerstone make the homeless population aware of other resources that might be available to assist them.  Some of the current and on-going needs are:
* Corn, Green Beans, Pork and Beans, Ranch Style Beans, Pasta, Spaghetti Sauce, Rice
* Syrofoam Plates and Cup and Plastic Forks and Spoons
* Sugar, Coffee and Cream, Powder or Concentrated Drinks

"Pure Religion..." from Steve Deere

Good Morning All,

The book of James tells us that "pure religion is this...to care for orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world".  (James 1:27)

A few weeks ago, Gary and Charlotte Moreau set up a service opportunity for our class to serve the ladies of Genesis Women's shelter by providing lunch to them and simply ministering to them through relationship and conversation for a few hours.  Four families from our class took part in this, and it was a huge blessing to all involved.

The ladies we visited with were unanimous in proclaiming the change in their lives that has come with a new found relationship with Jesus.  We heard several testimonies that were incredible.  One lady came to Genesis a few years ago from an abusive husband and was a meth addict.  She went through the year long program, and it so changed her life that she went on to get a certification in counseling and ministry and she now works at Genesis as a "house mom", along with a few other similar shelters in the DFW area.

What a blessing seeing and hearing these stories were to those of us that were there.  We that attended were united in our desire to do more for these ladies and assist them on their journey.  Two things that immediately came up was the ladies desire to attend our church and our class and some basic necessities.  Being in the home pretty much 24/7, they have limited ability to form relationships with others.  They especially could use relationships with those who may be further in their spiritual walk.  That's where we come in.

Gary and I have worked it out with the director of Genesis to allow the ladies to attend church and our class once a month.  We will reserve church vans to go pick them up and take them back.  The first time we will be doing this will coincide with our next potluck on May 28, which just so happens to be our rescheduled "Party in the Parking Lot" burger cookout.

What we would need from you is this:

  1)  a willingness to provide extra food for our guests
  2) a willingness to engage these ladies in friendship and Christian camaraderie
  3)  a willingness to help with transportation on occasion should we decide to do this on a monthly basis

The second thing that they mentioned was a lack of basic needs, such as shampoo, soap, and general toiletries.  In a word, they run short on these each month.  This is a mission based, non-profit organization, so funds and supplies run short on occasion.  What I would like to do is target this day that they will be visiting, May 28, for our class to donate travel sized shampoos, soaps, skin care, toothpaste, whatever.  We all have them laying around our house from trips we have taken.  If you could please make a note to bring them that night, we will deliver them to Pastor Nancy, the director of the shelter.

Brothers and Sisters, there is no better ministry opportunity I can think of for us to commit to partnering with.  This is where the rubber meets the road.  Jesus said it best in
Matthew 25:40  when he said  "whatever you have done for the least of these brothers of mine (the poor, the hungry, the thirsty, the unclothed, and the strangers), you have done for me".

More to come on this later, but please start praying about what role you are willing to play in serving these ladies.

In Christ,

Steve

A Christ Centered Shelter for Women & Children
In Crisis

THE GENESIS CENTER
2675 N. State Hwy 34
Kaufman, TX 75142
(972) 932-4351

The Genesis Center is a non-profit organization committed to provide immediate safety and shelter, along with victim care services, for women and children in crisis.
The Genesis Center was founded with the vision of collaborating with the area resources already in existence in helping rebuild and transform lives that are truly broken. It is a place of refuge for those in need. The Center offers 24Sharing the Love of Christ with Women and Children in Need-hour crises counseling, shelter, resources for daily needs, parenting classes, job services, medical referrals and spiritual mentoring.
The focus of the Center is both physical and spiritual. We believe with this approach women are able to progress in putting their lives back on track. Clients are empowered to make their own choices and are shown options for creating a new life for themselves and their children. The success of the Center to date is attributed to the spiritual focus that motivates all that is done.

We serve many counties such as  Henderson, Kaufman, Dallas, Ellis, and Van Zandt just to name a few in Texas.  We are primarily the only shelter of this kind in three surrounding counties.
We try to accommodate any client in need, provided we have the bed space.

Local mission events planned - Genesis Center and Park Manor

LP Moss-Deere Missions

Hi class!

Two new local mission events are planned for our Life Group.  I will have sign up sheets in class between now and the event dates.

Sat. April 30 - Genesis Women's Center, Kaufman, TX
10:00am? - 1pm (meal at 11:30am)
This is a Shelter and Recovery ministry that houses (about 50?) women and their children.  It is very evangelistic!  100+ souls are saved per year.  They minister primarily to counties east of Dallas including Rockwall County.  We are looking at having a Sat outside family BBQ, playtime for kids, fellowshipping with women, and manual work for others such as our dads and teens.  Kids of all ages are very welcomed.  We will also be given an intro to this awesome and effective ministry.

date TBD - Park Manor ministry -  Cornerstone Baptist Church/Downtown Dallas
10:30am-12:00pm
This is a 10 year old LPC/Cornerstone Baptist Church ministry which is a once per month Sat. lunch and fellowship time with elderly folks in South Dallas.  It is in a high-rise building nursing home that is a ministry of Cornerstone Baptist Church.   It is always the 4th Sat of every month, 10:30am-12:00pm.  The need is for people to serve the food and to carry the food to shut-ins.  They also need people to visit with the elderly folks.  Kids of all ages are very welcomed!  The LG that runs this ministry has only about 10 people that volunteer so they always need help.

Christmas 2010 - support 3 families from Lake Rockwall Estates

We were able to support 3 needy (mostly Christian) families from Lake Rockwall Estates for Christmas in 2010!  Thanks to all who contributed!  Our visit with the families were very good.  A great witness to the family and to non-Christians that brothers and sisters in Christ love and help each other in times of need!  The families have someone, usually Mom and some of the children, active in LPEspanol Church and/or at the LRE Community Center.   The families were very appreciative.  We visited with families and did acticities such as making a gingerbread house with younger kids.  We had snacks such as hot chocolate and Christmas cookies.  We gave the food and gifts privaely to the parents.  The photo above is some of the Gomez family with some of our volunteers.

Promotion of class individual ministries - blog, examiner.com articles

I created a blog for our Moss-Deere Missions.   On it we will advertise and detail future class mission events, describe our mission focus, document and celebrate past mission events, and promote missions/ministries  that our individual class members are involved in.
Blog address:  http://lpmossdeeremissions.blogspot.com

Are you actively involved in some ministry (either part of LPC or an outside ministry)?  Are you passionate about it?   Would you like to promote it to our class and also a wider audience?   If so please send me information on this ministry and I will put it on our blog.  I can also post stories on examiner.com to reach a wider audience; this is an on-line news site, and I am author for the category “Dallas Evangelism & Missions”.    Address is here:  http://www.examiner.com/evangelism-and-missions-in-dallas/gary-moreau

I can post as many stories as you send me.   We want to give you a platform to be a voice to promote this ministry that you are passionate for.  Please send me this info on your ministry:
Name, location and  purpose of ministry.  What need does it meet?  What is it’s scope – local, regional, global?  What type of ministry is it – evangelistic, service. etc.?   What is web address and contact info (you will be our local contact)?  Try to answer  who, what, when, where, why, how?   Email to me 1-3 photos representing  your ministry, primarily showing  who it is serving.

Upcoming Local Mission Events - dates TBD soon

Hi fellow missionaries/uncomfortable people!

I saw a post on Facebook that said either you are a mission field or a missionary.  In missions, seek to have a global view but mostly act locally.  Seek to step out of your comfort zone (be uncomfortable), be led 100% by the Holy Spirit,  and be the hands and feet of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Seek to be a shining light for the Gospel all day and every day in your own little world.

I have defined 3 local mission events for our class starting in April - we may do 1 or 2 in April and/or 1 or 2 in May.   The goal is to find a variety of missions that do most of what you are interested in.   I know this is a busy time of year as school winds down, but try to go on 1 or 2 of these (or all 3!)  with your family.  Hey, I need leaders for possibly 2 of these events; we are graduating 2 HS Seniors this year and we are busy busy; let me know if you are willing to lead.

We will continue to have local mission events all year and when the time is right we will define our class local missions focus.  Our focus is what we will primarily do most of the time so we can build relationships, but we will continue to do other various missions so we can see and experience more of what God is up to.

Our upcoming mission events:

Park Manor ministry, South Dallas - This is a 10 year old LPC/Cornerstone Baptist Church ministry which is a once per month Sat. lunch and fellowship time with elderly folks in South Dallas.

Genesis Center, Kaufman, TX - This is a Shelter and Recovery ministry that houses (about 50?) women and their children.  It is very evangelistic!  100+ souls are saved per year.  They minister primarily to  counties east of Dallas including Rockwall County.  We are looking at having a Sat outside BBQ, playtime for kids, fellowshipping with women, and manual work for others such as our dads and teens.  I will lead this event.

Lake Rockwall Estates, Rockwall, TX - This is a LPC local Rockwall ministry, and it is a Hispanic ministry that is about transforming whole families and a whole community for Christ. The 3 families our class adopted for Christmas are from this neighborhood.   We are looking at sponsoring a movie night or some other event like that.  We would provide snacks and drinks, and fellowship with the people.  The goal for us is to experience and get to know the LRE ministry and people.

Charles Spurgeon - some strong motivation to do evangelism

"If sinners be damned at least let them leap to hell over our bodies. Let them go with our arms around their knees. Let no one go there unwarned or unprayed for."

"God save us from living in comfort while sinners are sinking into hell!”

"Brethren, if God intends to give us souls he will prepare us for the honour by causing us to feel the deep ruin of our fellow-creatures, and the fearful doom which that ruin will involve unless they shall escape from it. We should hear praying of a mighty sort if believers sympathised with men in their ruin; then groans and tears would not be so scarce; then the soul pouring out itself in groanings which cannot be uttered would be but an ordinary thing."
