Christmas 2010 - support 3 families from Lake Rockwall Estates

We were able to support 3 needy (mostly Christian) families from Lake Rockwall Estates for Christmas in 2010!  Thanks to all who contributed!  Our visit with the families were very good.  A great witness to the family and to non-Christians that brothers and sisters in Christ love and help each other in times of need!  The families have someone, usually Mom and some of the children, active in LPEspanol Church and/or at the LRE Community Center.   The families were very appreciative.  We visited with families and did acticities such as making a gingerbread house with younger kids.  We had snacks such as hot chocolate and Christmas cookies.  We gave the food and gifts privaely to the parents.  The photo above is some of the Gomez family with some of our volunteers.

Promotion of class individual ministries - blog, examiner.com articles

I created a blog for our Moss-Deere Missions.   On it we will advertise and detail future class mission events, describe our mission focus, document and celebrate past mission events, and promote missions/ministries  that our individual class members are involved in.
Blog address:  http://lpmossdeeremissions.blogspot.com

Are you actively involved in some ministry (either part of LPC or an outside ministry)?  Are you passionate about it?   Would you like to promote it to our class and also a wider audience?   If so please send me information on this ministry and I will put it on our blog.  I can also post stories on examiner.com to reach a wider audience; this is an on-line news site, and I am author for the category “Dallas Evangelism & Missions”.    Address is here:  http://www.examiner.com/evangelism-and-missions-in-dallas/gary-moreau

I can post as many stories as you send me.   We want to give you a platform to be a voice to promote this ministry that you are passionate for.  Please send me this info on your ministry:
Name, location and  purpose of ministry.  What need does it meet?  What is it’s scope – local, regional, global?  What type of ministry is it – evangelistic, service. etc.?   What is web address and contact info (you will be our local contact)?  Try to answer  who, what, when, where, why, how?   Email to me 1-3 photos representing  your ministry, primarily showing  who it is serving.

Upcoming Local Mission Events - dates TBD soon

Hi fellow missionaries/uncomfortable people!

I saw a post on Facebook that said either you are a mission field or a missionary.  In missions, seek to have a global view but mostly act locally.  Seek to step out of your comfort zone (be uncomfortable), be led 100% by the Holy Spirit,  and be the hands and feet of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Seek to be a shining light for the Gospel all day and every day in your own little world.

I have defined 3 local mission events for our class starting in April - we may do 1 or 2 in April and/or 1 or 2 in May.   The goal is to find a variety of missions that do most of what you are interested in.   I know this is a busy time of year as school winds down, but try to go on 1 or 2 of these (or all 3!)  with your family.  Hey, I need leaders for possibly 2 of these events; we are graduating 2 HS Seniors this year and we are busy busy; let me know if you are willing to lead.

We will continue to have local mission events all year and when the time is right we will define our class local missions focus.  Our focus is what we will primarily do most of the time so we can build relationships, but we will continue to do other various missions so we can see and experience more of what God is up to.

Our upcoming mission events:

Park Manor ministry, South Dallas - This is a 10 year old LPC/Cornerstone Baptist Church ministry which is a once per month Sat. lunch and fellowship time with elderly folks in South Dallas.  It is always the 4th Sat of every month, 10:30am-12:00pm.  The need is for people to serve the food and to carry the food to shut-ins.  They also need people to visit with the elderly folks.  Kids of all ages are very welcomed!  The LG that runs this ministry has only about 10 people that volunteer so they always need help.

Genesis Center, Kaufman, TX - This is a Shelter and Recovery ministry that houses (about 50?) women and their children.  It is very evangelistic!  100+ souls are saved per year.  They minister primarily to  counties east of Dallas including Rockwall County.  We are looking at having a Sat outside BBQ, playtime for kids, fellowshipping with women, and manual work for others such as our dads and teens.  I will lead this event.

Lake Rockwall Estates, Rockwall, TX - This is a LPC local Rockwall ministry, and it is a Hispanic ministry that is about transforming whole families and a whole community for Christ. The 3 families our class adopted for Christmas are from this neighborhood.   We are looking at sponsoring a movie night or some other event like that.  We would provide snacks and drinks, and fellowship with the people.  The goal for us is to experience and get to know the LRE ministry and people.

Charles Spurgeon - some strong motivation to do evangelism

"If sinners be damned at least let them leap to hell over our bodies. Let them go with our arms around their knees. Let no one go there unwarned or unprayed for."

"God save us from living in comfort while sinners are sinking into hell!”

"Brethren, if God intends to give us souls he will prepare us for the honour by causing us to feel the deep ruin of our fellow-creatures, and the fearful doom which that ruin will involve unless they shall escape from it. We should hear praying of a mighty sort if believers sympathised with men in their ruin; then groans and tears would not be so scarce; then the soul pouring out itself in groanings which cannot be uttered would be but an ordinary thing."
